Samsung Galaxy A21S Review O - Infinity Display With Monster Battery || Samsung India || My Support Tech

Samsung Galaxy A21S Monster Battery  O - Infinity Display

Samsung introduced the Galaxy A series as an online-only lineup to compete with Chinese companies such as Xiaomi and Realme. The smartphones included in this series gained a lot of popularity compared to other Samsung products due to its aggressive price and good features. Due to this popularity, these smartphones are now available on offline channels as well. Samsung has recently added another new model in this series called Samsung Galaxy A21S. This new smartphone comes equipped with the same specifications included in some of its previous models, but will it be able to make a distinct identity compared to them? We have reviewed the Galaxy A21S to find out.

Samsung Galaxy A21S design

Samsung has used plastic in the new Galaxy A21S to keep costs down. The back panel of the Samsung A21S is made of plastic and has a shiny finish. It catches fingerprints very easily. There is no case or cover in the Samsung box, so you will have to wipe it until you buy a case for it yourself.

The Samsung Galaxy A21S is an upgrade to the Galaxy A20, but it looks like the Galaxy M40, which was launched in mid-2019. However, it does not come in many attractive colors. Instead, the company has launched it in blue, black, and white colors.

The Samsung Galaxy A21S handset has a 6.5-inch HD + (720X1600 pixels) Infinity O display, with a 20: 9 aspect ratio. The phone has an Infinity O-display, which has a selfie cutout on the left-hand edge of the screen. If you have big hands, you can reach the top with your thumb, otherwise, you will have to adjust the phone slightly. However, this phone is not as big as Redmi Note 9 Pro Max, which we recently reviewed.

There is also a slight problem in accessing the volume buttons, as they are set up quite contrary to our liking. However, the power button and rear-mounted fingerprint scanner are set in a good place. The dimensions of the Galaxy M21S phone are 75.3 x 163.6 x 8.9 millimeters and weight 191 grams. Surprisingly, the device does not feel too heavy in the hand, as curves are given on both sides. Which is much lighter than the Redmi Note 9 Pro.

Samsung has given USB Type-C port in this phone, which is set below the smartphone. In the box, the company gives a 15-watt charger. The 3.5mm headphone jack in the smartphone is also set down with a microphone and speakers.

Samsung Galaxy A21S specifications and software

The Samsung A21S comes with a 6.5-inch AMOLED display, which has full-HD + resolution. It is not very common to get an AMOLED panel at this price, but Samsung is constantly changing this perception with its Galaxy A series. This panel is vivid and has very good viewing angles. It also performs well in sunlight.

The phone runs on One UI based on Android 10. The octa-core Exynos 850 processor has been used on the phone. Up to 6 GB RAM is available for Jugalbandi. Inbuilt storage is 64 GB. Storage can be increased through a microSD card up to 512 GB. The Galaxy M21S has been introduced in two variants, one with 4 GB RAM and 64 GB storage and the other 6 GB RAM and 4 GB storage. For this review, we had the base variant, which is priced at Rs 16,499 on Amazon. Similarly, the top-end model is priced at Rs 18,499 on Amazon.

The Samsung A21S is a dual-SIM device and has two nano-SIM slots. It also has a dedicated microSD card slot to increase storage. It has support for dual 4G VoLTE, Bluetooth 5, dual-band Wi-Fi, and four satellite navigation systems. It comes equipped with a 5,000mAh battery.

The Galaxy A21S runs One UI 2.0 based on Android 10. It was still running the February security patch, which is a bit outdated by today's time. The UI is similar to the Galaxy M31 that we reviewed earlier this year. We found some bloatware pre-installed on the device, including Amazon Shopping, Netflix, Prime Video, Halo, and Dailyhunt. We found that Halo and Dailyhunt send spam notifications, so if you don't use them we would recommend you uninstall them. We also saw notifications of the Stock My Galaxy app throughout the day.

This phone offers Always-on display mode and is available for Dolby Atmos earphones and Bluetooth headsets. You also have the option to switch to gesture-based navigation instead of the traditional three-button layout. Other Android 10 features include a Dark Mode, which takes full advantage of the Super AMOLED panel included on the Galaxy 21S. Samsung has also added a game booster feature that can block notifications and provide quick shortcuts for apps of your choice.

Samsung Galaxy A21S performance

The octa-core Exynos 850 processor is a capable processor and can handle basic apps comfortably without any sign of slowing down. However, we noted that heavy apps take a little time to load. Multitasking was smooth and we were able to switch between multiple apps without any hassle.

The fingerprint scanner on the back of the device works quickly to unlock the device and is also accurate. Similarly, face detection also performs its job well. The AMOLED display is the best part of the Samsung Galaxy A21S and we enjoyed watching videos on this smartphone. We found the speaker to be slightly smaller, which reduced the content experience slightly.

We also saw PUBG Mobile playing on the Galaxy A21S. The game ran in high settings with graphics set to HD and frames set to a high rate. We saw some lag in the gameplay, which forced us to reduce the quality of the graphics. After playing the game for 15 minutes, we noticed that the device was slightly hot, and the battery dropped by 3 percent.

The battery life of the Galaxy A21S is excellent. Due to the large battery of 5,000mAh included, the phone gave a two-day backup with regular use on the phone. In our HD video loop test, the device managed to run for 21 hours and 48 minutes, but the brightness of the phone decreases when the battery drops below a certain level. In addition, the larger battery takes two hours to charge. Using the 15W charger included in the box, the device charged 21 percent in 30 minutes and 42 percent in an hour.

Samsung Galaxy M21 Camera

The Samsung Galaxy A21S has a quad-camera setup on the back. It has a 48-megapixel primary camera with F / 2.0 aperture, an 8-megapixel ultra-wide-angle camera with F / 2.2 aperture, a 2-megapixel depth sensor, and a 2-megapixel macro lens. The 13-megapixel sensor with F / 2.2 aperture is available for selfie and video calling. The camera UI is easy to use. It has a scene optimizer, which can detect which camera is pointing and sets the camera settings accordingly. Apart from the regular photo and video modes, it also includes features like Live Focus, Pro, Night, Food, Super Slow-Mo, and more. The selfie came in nice detail taken in broad daylight. The camera UI gives you a cropped view by default, but you also have the option to change it to a wide frame.

Verdict

The Samsung Galaxy A21S feels like the Galaxy A20. It shares many important specifications with older devices. The big difference here is Android 10 and a high-resolution selfie camera, but because the Galaxy M30s (Review) recently received the One UI 2.0 update, its selfie camera has been better than before. Surprisingly, Samsung has kept the price of Galaxy A21S lower than the Galaxy A50. The lower price of the Galaxy A21S and the better chance of it getting Android 11 update, take it one step ahead of the Samsung Galaxy A50.
