Samsung introduced the Galaxy M series as an online lineup to compete with Chinese companies such as Xiaomi and Realme. The smartphones included in this series gained a lot of popularity compared to other Samsung products due to its aggressive price and good features. Due to this popularity, these smartphones are now available on offline channels as well. Samsung's M series was introduced last year keeping in mind the users who want a good and stylish smartphone in the range of Rs 15,000. One by one, Samsung has launched several M series phones in the last year. Now the company has recently introduced the new M series phone Samsung M21. This new smartphone comes equipped with the same specifications included in some of its previous models, but will it be able to make a distinct identity compared to them? We have reviewed the Samsung Galaxy M21 to find out.Samsung Galaxy M21 Amazing Colorful Display Price Feature Specification || Samsung India || My Support Tech |
Samsung Galaxy M21 design
The look of the Samsung Galaxy M21 is very similar to the Galaxy M30S launched a few days ago. The emergence of the camera in the M21 has been greatly reduced compared to the Galaxy M30S. The body of the phone is plastic but similar to the shining glass body. The fingerprint sensor has got a place at the back.
The Samsung M21 has a larger display, measuring 6.4-inches in size, and has thinner bezels on the top and sides. Although its chin is quite thick. There is a waterdrop notch at the top center and a small earpiece just above it.
There is also a slight problem in accessing the volume buttons, as they are set up quite contrary to our liking. However, the power button and rear-mounted fingerprint scanner are set in a good place. The thickness of the Galaxy M21 is 8.9 mV. Surprisingly, the device does not feel too heavy in the hand, as curves are given on both sides. It comes with a weight of 188 grams, which is much lighter than the Redmi Note 9 Pro.
Samsung M 21 has given USB Type-C port in this phone, which is set below the smartphone. In the box, the company gives a 15-watt charger. The 3.5mm headphone jack in the smartphone is also set down with a microphone and speakers.
Samsung Galaxy M21 specifications and software
The Samsung M 21 comes with a 6.4-inch AMOLED display, which has full-HD + resolution. Whose resolution is 1080X2340 pixels? To protect the display, a layer of Corning Gorilla Glass 3 has been given at the top of the phone. It is not very common to get an AMOLED panel at this price, but Samsung is constantly changing this perception with its Galaxy M series. This panel is vivid and has very good viewing angles. It also performs well in sunlight.
Samsung has chosen the Exynos 9611 chipset for the smartphone. It is an octa-core processor that comes with four ARM Cortex-A73 cores and four Cortex-A53 cores. It comes with a Mali-G72 graphics unit. The Galaxy M21 has been introduced in two variants, one with 4 GB RAM and 64 GB storage and the other 6 GB RAM and 128 GB storage. For this review, we had the base variant, which costs Rs 12,699 on Amazon and Rs 13,199 offline and on Samsung's website. Similarly, the top-end model is priced at Rs 14,999 on Amazon and Rs 15,499 for the rest.
The Galaxy M 21 is a dual-SIM device and has two nano-SIM slots. It also has a dedicated microSD card slot to increase storage. It has support for dual 4G VoLTE, Bluetooth 5, dual-band Wi-Fi, and four satellite navigation systems. It comes equipped with a 6,000mAh battery.
The Galaxy M21 runs One UI 2.0 based on Android 10. It was still running the February security patch, which is a bit outdated by today's time. The UI is similar to the Samsung M30s that we reviewed earlier this year. We found some bloatware pre-installed on the device, including Amazon Shopping, Netflix, Prime Video, Halo, and Dailyhunt. We found that Halo and Dailyhunt send spam notifications, so if you don't use them we would recommend you uninstall them. We also saw notifications of the Stock My Galaxy app throughout the day.
This phone offers Always-on display mode and is available for Dolby Atmos earphones and Bluetooth headsets. You also have the option to switch to gesture-based navigation instead of the traditional three-button layout. Other Android 10 features include a Dark Mode, which takes full advantage of the Super AMOLED panel included on the Galaxy M 21. Samsung has also added a game booster feature that can block notifications and provide quick shortcuts for apps of your choice.
Samsung Galaxy M21 performance
As far as performance is concerned, this is not the first phone with Exynos 9611 processor. Earlier too many phones like Samsung's Galaxy M30S have been launched with this processor. We did not have to face any kind of problem regarding app loading time and multitasking. It only took a few seconds to set up the fingerprint sensor and face unlock, while it usually takes some time to set up the fingerprint sensor, but this is not the case with the Galaxy M21.
The fingerprint sensor and face unlock are fast. You are going to have fun with the display of the Galaxy M21. The video watching experience is fantastic. The combination of colors and the referencing rate is good. We found the speaker to be slightly smaller, which reduced the content experience slightly. The Samsung Galaxy M21 is easily tolerated by heavy games like PUBG. The default setting of graphics in PubG is HD and the frame rate is high, but like most midrange phones, the Samsung Galaxy M21 is slightly warmer when playing PubG for around 20 minutes. The battery of this phone is amazing, which is 6000mAh. With a common user, the Samsung Galaxy M21 battery can deliver up to two days, although it takes about 2 hours to fully charge the battery while it also has a 15-watt fast charger.
Samsung Galaxy M21 cameras

The Samsung Galaxy M21 has a triple rear camera setup. The primary camera comes with a 48-megapixel sensor with an F / 2.0 aperture. Its second camera is an 8-megapixel ultra-wide-angle lens with F / 2.2 aperture and the third camera is an 8-megapixel depth sensor. The camera UI is easy to use. It has a scene optimizer, which can detect which camera is pointing and sets the camera settings accordingly. Apart from the regular photo and video modes, it also includes features like Live Focus, Pro, Night, Food, Super Slow-Mo, and more.
The wide-angle camera has low resolution, which is clearly felt in photos. It does not hold the same detail as the primary sensor in the photo. It captures a much larger area, but like most smartphones, distortion is seen in the pictures taken from it. Like most phones in this range in the market, the Galaxy M 21 clicks well in the daylight and adequate light but in low light. Struggles a little. The night mode is not great but fine.
With this phone, you can record 4K videos comfortably, but in this mode, you will be able to record only 10 minutes of video at a time. Video can be recorded at 1080 pixels with a selfie camera. The phone also has an ultra-stable mode which will help you a lot in video recording, although stabilization is not available for 4K recording.
The camera UI gives you a cropped view by default, but you also have the option to change it to a wide frame. The selfie camera takes 12-megapixel photos by default, but if you change the aspect ratio, you can also take photos at full 20-megapixel resolution.
Verdict
The Samsung Galaxy M21 feels like the Galaxy M30S. It shares many important specifications with older devices. The big difference here is Android 10 and a high-resolution selfie camera, but because the Galaxy M30s recently received the One UI 2.0 update, its selfie camera has been better than before. Surprisingly, Samsung has kept the price of the Galaxy M21 lower than the Galaxy M30S. The lower price of the Samsung Galaxy M 21 and the better chance of getting the Android 11 update takes it a step ahead of the Galaxy M30S.
